Suspect identified in Jan. 23 Chelan shooting; investigation ongoing

CHELAN — Law enforcement officials have released the name of the suspect arrested in connection with a late-night shooting in downtown Chelan on Jan. 23.

According to an update from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, the man taken into custody the night of the incident has been identified as Hector Valencia-Farias, 18, of Manson. He is currently being held at the Chelan County Regional Jail.

Deputies responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 11:54 p.m. on Jan. 23 in the 100 block of East Woodin Avenue. A 22-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was transported to Lake Chelan Hospital in stable condition.

Investigators previously said a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting was located near Riverwalk Park and that a passenger fled on foot before being apprehended without incident.

Valencia-Farias has been booked on charges of first-degree assault, two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.
