TEE TIME

CHELAN - Beautiful blue skies were the order of the day last Thursday for 22 members competing in two different formats. Besides our weekly competition, eighteen ladies were also competing in the first round of our Club Championship. They will go on to compete in round two next Thursday.
This week’s competition was Monthly Medal, low gross and low net by division plus fewest putts.
Division 1:
Low Gross: First Place: April Talley, 83. Second Place: Candace Farnsworth, 91.
Low Net: First Place: Linda Hahn, 72. Second Place: Barb Rayburn, 75.
Fewest putts: Linda Reister and Candace Farnsworth tied, 29.
Division 2:
Low Gross: First Place: Susie Clausen, 103.
Low Net: First Place: Mary Jo DuRuz, 77.
Fewest putts: Mary Jo DuRuz and Roxanne Emerson tied, 33.
Division 3:
Low Gross: First Place: Bernie Rayner and Loa Servis tied, 106.
Low Net: First Place: Karen Erickson and Carol Giffin tied, 72.
Fewest putts: Judy Johanson, 31.

Birdies were made by Linda Hahn hole 7, Janet Foyle hole 18, Carla Bailey hole 2. Chip-ins were made by Janet Foyle hole 18 and Judy Johanson hole 13. The KP winner on hole 18 was Roxanne Emerson at 14’3”.
Competition on August 10 will be T’s and F’s (all holes that start with a T and an F less 1/2 your handicap). It will also be the second and final round of the club championship. Our tee time will be 8 a.m.; please check in by 7:30 a.m.
 

July 27
This week’s fun competition was Even and Odd (gross score of even numbered holes on front nine and odd holes on back less ½ your handicap. Twenty competitors were in attendance.
Division 1: First Place: April Talley, 29. Second Place: Barb Rayburn, 32.5.
Division 2: First Place: Susie Clausen, 29.
Division 3: First Place: Judy Johanson, 24. Second Place: Carol Giffin, 26.
There were no birdies made but chip-ins were made by Loa Servis hole 17 and two by Roxanne Emerson holes 13 and 18. KP winner on hole 7 was Linda Reister at 4’10”.
The AVWGA team traveled to Leavenworth last week to play their opponent Sun Country. They won two of their matches and squeaked by winning their total match.  April Talley, Jan Artim,  Barb Rayburn and Cindi Smith won honeypot money.
 

July 20
It was a scorcher for 14 hearty players last Thursday. The competition was Medal Play (low gross and net of field and low net by division).
Low gross of field: Janet Foyle, 102.
Low net of field: Tina Nyce, 69.
Division 1: First Place:  Elona Teague, 83.
Division 2: First Place: Mary Jo DuRuz, 78.
Division 3: First Place: Bernie Rayner, 71. Second Place: Loa Servis, 73.
The lone birdie girl was Carla Bailey on hole 11.
Chip-ins were by Carla Bailey hole 4, Nancy Parker hole 4 and hole 9.
Carla Bailey won the KP pot. On hole 11 she landed 2’9” from the hole.
