Chelan Pro Rodeo also cancelled

CHELAN - Chelan Jr. Rodeo scheduled for Aug. 1-2, will cancel this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Jr. Rodeo committee met and after careful evaluation determined it would be best to postpone and plan for 2021.

“We are very saddened to have to cancel such a positive and inspiring event for our youth.” said Kelly Gilpin, chairperson, Chelan Jr. Rodeo. “But due to our county still being in Phase 1.5 of Governor Inslee’s reopening plan and the unlikelihood that we would be at Phase 3 by August 1, we decided it was best to forgo this year’s junior rodeo.”
Planning for both the 2021 Jr. Rodeo and Chelan Pro Rodeo, also canceled earlier this summer, will resume later this year. “We are grateful to all of our area businesses and local sponsors who generously donated to the 2020 Chelan Jr. Rodeo and supported our fundraiser earlier this year.” Gilpin added. “All donations will be held over and used for next year’s event.”
Dates for the 2021 Chelan Pro and Jr. Rodeos’ will be determined and announced at a later date.
“While we are disappointed by the current circumstances, we are excited to plan for an even greater Jr. Rodeo in 2021 and look forward to seeing our competitors and supporters there.”
Chelan Jr. Rodeo is hosted by the Chelan Rustlers Saddle Club and the Chelan Jr. Rodeo committee.
