Chelan defeats Cascade 51-44

Chelan Lady Goats traveled to Leavenworth to battle the Kodiaks on the hardwood Tuesday night (Dec. 17).  Cascade came ready to play and were well prepared for the defensive pressure of the Goats.  Both teams struggled in the first quarter with turnovers and ended with an 8-8 tie.  

Ashley Sams took over in the second quarter by scoring 11 points and making her second three point shot of the season.  The Goats went into halftime leading 28-19.  

The 3rd quarter each team only scored 8 points again, ending the quarter 36-27.  Ashley Sams and Booh Huddleston sealed the game in the 4th quarter with Huddleston scoring 9 points and Sams 6.  Final score was 51-44.  Sams finished the night with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 steals.

Chelan defeats Brewster 66-26

Chelan Lady Goats traveled to Brewster tonight (Dec. 20)  to take on the Bears.  Chelan’s defense held Brewster to only 2 points in the first quarter while we were able to get a couple easy baskets off turnovers.  After one quarter of play the score was 11-2.  Brewster was able to move the ball around better in the 2nd quarter against our pressure and scored 8 points.  The Lady Goats limited Brewster to only 3 field goals in the first half.  

Chelan switched up defense in the 3rd quarter and were able to get multiple steals and convert those to baskets.  The Lady Goats scored 32 points in that quarter off 15 baskets.  At the end of the 3rd quarter the score was 55-16.  The final score was 66-26.  

Chelan played great pressure defense all night and worked the ball around on offense.  Three  players scored in double figures with Matea Ivory and Ashley Sams leading the way with 12 each.  Aliyah Finch was the other double figures with 11.  

The Lady Goats are back on the hardwood Dec. 27 to start our annual Holiday Tournament.  Nooksack Valley, Life Christian, and Eastside Prep come to town as part of the Holiday Tournament.  Nooksack Valley is a very talented team that competes in the Northwest Conference.  We are excited to have a chance to play them.  Please come out and enjoy a couple days of basketball and help support the Lady Goats.  The girls are playing some great basketball and are sure to impress you with their grit and tenacity.
