CHELAN - In the opening game of the season for both teams, Chelan lost a non-league game 64 to 74 in Chelan.
The Goats leading scorers were junior guard Dylan Jay with 20, senior forward Braiden Boyd with 19, junior point guard Isaac Wilson with 10 and junior guard Ryan Rainville with 10.
For Brewster senior forward Kelson Gebbers led all scorers with 27 including 9-12 free throws for the game. He started the game fast, making all four of his three-pointers for the game in the first quarter.
Head coach Tony Callero said,  "It was good to see the defense tighten up in the second half".
Gebbers was limited to one made second half field goal in part due to the defense applied by Dylan Jay. Jay and sophomore starter Jacob Allen both fouled out of the game trying to slow the Bears down.
The Bears took advantage of the fouling and hit 16-23 free throws while the Goats made 4 of 12.  The free throw line proved to be the difference of the game as both teams made 26 field goals including eight three-pointers for the Goats and six for the Bears.

EPHRATA - Chelan earned an improbable non-league victory on the road vs. 2A Ephrata when junior point guard Isaac Wilson hit a buzzer beater three point shot from the top of the key.
On the final play of the game, the Goats inbounded against a full court press and sophomore center Kellen Reinhardt found himself with the ball and just seconds to go.
Reinhardt drove hard to the hoop from the right wing and when the defense collapsed, he passed out to Wilson who barely beat the buzzer to give the Goats the win.
Wilson finished with a team high 22 points and was the only starter who did not foul out.
Junior forward Dylan Jay scored 15 and senior forward Braiden Boyd scored 13 but both players sat much of the game in foul trouble and both fouled out early in the fourth quarter.
The other two junior starters Ryan Rainville and Ian Garfoot also fouled out.
Senior Silas Tilbury entered his first ever varsity game during the tight, intense fourth quarter and helped the cause by grabbing two big rebounds and hitting one key free throw late in the game.
Sophomore Jacob Allen scored all four of his points from the free throw line in the fourth quarter where the Goats made 26 of 41 attempts compared to Ephrata who made just 12 of 24.
Head coach Tony Callero was pleased with Wilon's leadership all game but was quick to point  out the contributions of the bench players. "We have four goals every game and Jacob Allen was key to us achieving two of those goals tonight. He took two charges and made 4 of 6 free throws."
Chelan opened Caribou Trail League play on Tuesday, December 6 at home vs. defending CTL champion Quincy.

their offense easily. With Kira Sandoval out for tonight’s  game with a sprained ankle the Goats rallied together in the first quarter stretching the lead to 6 at one point before closing out the quarter ahead 14-10. It was the tenacity of the Tigers that allowed them to claw their way back gaining the 23-20 lead as both teams took the locker room at the half.
The Goats came out of the locker room with several in foul trouble but ready to battle again in the 2nd half. The Goats paced with the Tigers however and went into the 4th quarter still down by three with a score of 27-30 but not before Senior Joslynn Simmons’ fouled out just before the third quarter concluded. Simmons, critical for the Goats in scoring had 12 on the night.
The Goats battled, closing the gap several times, but ran out of steam as the Tigers pounced on the Goats with a final score of 37-44.

Varsity Girls 34 vs Brewster Bears 45
Nov. 28

CHELAN - The Lady Goats of Chelan faced the Brewster Bears in a home game season opener Tuesday night.
The Goats got off to a rough, slow start as they struggled to get into the rhythm of their offense and even found it difficult to contain the Bears defensively. The first quarter finished with the Goats trailing 4-9.
The Goat’s game plan was to keep the Bears off the offensive glass and to defend the hoop by not allowing their posts to get good positioning inside. Neither was successful tonight for Goats as Gimena Hurtado had her way offensively for the Bears scoring 10 in the 2nd quarter and 18 for the game. Despite a rough first half the goats found themselves only 7 points down.
The Bears had another big offensive 3rd quarter extending their lead to 12 as both teams entered the final quarter.
The Goats began to find some life in the 4th quarter with their defensive half quart pressure which converted into fastbreak points closing the gap to 7 with a couple of minutes to go in the game. The Bears prevailed however and took back the momentum in the final 90 seconds of the game giving the Bears a 45-34 victory over the Goats.
Scoring for the Goats was led by Kira Sandoval with 14 points. J.P. Perez finished just behind with 13. Joslynn Simmons added 3. Jailyn Reinhart and Arabelle Finch each contributed 2 points.

Boys:
Chelan Boys did great this weekend at the Omak Invite. We had a lot of wins along with a ton of learning and improvements.
This month of December is all about learning what each athlete is best at and how we can use our strategy and knowledge to win in January and February when the big tournaments take place.
The whole team fought hard from the beginning all the way to the last match. Senior Tiernan Davis lead the way with three pins and first place finish. Jason Pritchard, another senior, made it to the finals ending with second place. Dana Malone also placed fith.
All of our returners have had massive gains from last year and we had many athletes who are new to our program and won several matches.
Along with our older guys our big freshman class wrestled great this weekend. Freshman, Zimri Kelling, won three matches taking second place and Freshman Sebastian Cisneros won four to come back and take third place.
“We have made massive improvements to our program and we are starting to make a name for ourselves. This first tournament was good to find out where we are standing and where we need to be. I’m excited for the rest of the season.”  said Coach Linton
The girls went to the Eastmont Ladycats Invite and competed very hard. Amiee Gordon took sixth place earning two pins along the way. The girls look to compete again on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Oroville Mixer.
