Goats lose tough game to the Brewster Bears in overtime shoot-out

Posted

Sept. 15
BREWSTER - The Goats traveled to Brewster to take on the bears in a non-league match up.  It wasn’t long before the Goats were controlling the ball through the midfield and trying to stir up as much offense as possible.  In the 18th minute of play Junior Aaliyha Espana slotted a ball back across the D for Junior Maya Cowan to take a clean shot and lace it into the back of the net.  The Goats continued to dominate the first half but could not find the back of the net again.
In the second half the Bears made a few adjustments and came out strong on both sides of the ball.  In the 50th minute of the game the Bears were able to capitalize and finish a ball, making a 1-1 tie.  The Goats continued to press the bears with having numerous opportunities but couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. With the game ending in a tie, it was decided that it would go straight to kicks.  The Brewster Goal keeper was able to make some great saves on the ball to allow the Bears to top the Goats in the non-league action.
The Goats will host two sets of Bulldogs this week.  First in another non-league game on Tuesday (Sept. 20)  vs. the Okanogan Bulldogs at 4 p.m.  On Thursday, Sept. 22 the Cashmere Bulldogs will travel to Mt. Goat field for the first league matchup for the Goats.  Kick off will also be at 4 p.m.  Come cheer on the Goats.

Sept. 13
CHELAN - This evening the Goats played host to the visiting Royal Knights in a non-league competition.  The Goats were coming off a long restful weekend where they have had time to recoup and recover from the first quarter of the season.  With air quality being an issue due to smoke each team was given short breaks throughout the game.  This allowed for all players to catch their breath and get a quick drink of water.
The game was a hard battle with the Knights coming out very aggressive against the Goats.  In spite of the Knights aggressiveness the Goats were able to gather many opportunities on goal but were not able to capitalize till the 25th minute. Junior Jailyn Reinhart sent a perfect pass across the face of the goal. Senior Irene Hernandez was in perfect position on the far post and was able to tap the ball into the back of the net.
The game was back and forth with the Goats holding most of the possession.  The Goats were able to get the final goal of the match with a ball sent in by Junior Jailyn Reinhart.  The ball hit a few Royal Defenders and bounced into the back of the net.
Freshman Goalkeeper Avari Barker earns her 4th shut-out of the season.  She would not be able to do this without her defense in front of her which consist of Junior Madi Barker, Junior Arabelle Finch, Senior Joslynn Simmons and Senior Kenia Sanchez.
Other notable players of the game would be the solid selfless offense of Junior Maya Cowan and Senior Macie Cowan.  These two players are always looking to make players better and get a pass off.
