From Coach Lee Southard:
‘‘Our boys and girls teams have made huge strides and have improved vastly from last season. For the past few seasons, we have not been as competitive as in the past on the boys side, but we may surprise some teams this season. This season marks the biggest turn-out we have had in years.  Our team is really excited about the season and has been working hard to get ready for matches to begin.
Our girls team is led by Denise Laurel (1st Girls Singles),  Necia Sax and Kaia Tucker (1st Girls Doubles), and Araya Clark, all returners from last season.  The girls team will be filled out with 8th graders who are looking to gain some valuable experience.  Last season Necia Sax and Kaia Tucker both made it to Districts.  We are looking forward to the opportunity to send more girls to the state qualifying weekend.
It will be extremely competitive within the boy’s team this season.  There will be movement all season in our top five players on the ladder.  Trent Renslow and Karsun Cole will compete weekly for the #1 position, with Abrahim Ayala, Camilo Barragan, and Lucas Martyn pushing up right behind them.  Jake Ostrow, Roberto Pacheco-Lopez, Eddy Pina, and Alan Swenson look to be the top potential players to compete for the final two varsity spots.   Karsun and Trent just missed making the District weekend last season, losing in a third set heartbreaking tiebreaker in the final weekend of the League Meet.  It would not be surprising for us to have four to five boys players qualifying for the District Tournament.
I am looking forward to a competitive, fun season.  The team has a great attitude and is willing to work as hard as needed to improve their game.
Who will be the teams to beat: Liberty Bell, Oroville
