Chelan Middle School 8th Grade Recognition to be held June 18 in a drive-thru recognition

Posted
CHELAN - We are excited to recognize this year’s 8th graders. We know the normal recognition of our 8th graders through a moving up ceremony can’t occur under our current circumstances. In light of that, we would like to share how we will celebrate the Class of 2024 as they move up to become Chelan High School students.
On June 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., we are inviting all 8th grade students and parents to a drive-thru celebration at Chelan Middle School where students will receive their 8th grade moving up certificate and a Chelan Goat Lanyard. Chelan Middle School staff will be cheering students on as they come through the drive-thru ceremony.

In order for us to celebrate the Class of 2024 as they move-up to the high school, we need to follow specific guidelines and expectations laid out by the State of Washington:

1.Parents are encouraged to decorate their cars to celebrate their students!
2.Students and family members will NOT be able to get out of their vehicles.
3.Vehicles with students and immediate family members will enter the west side parking lot of the CMS/CHS building and loop in front of the CMS hallway entrance from the bus drop off/pick up area.
4.Staff will be stationed around the sidewalk and ramp area to wave and celebrate our 8th graders.
5.Staff and CMS ASB will make signs, balloons, etc. for the 8th grade students and to decorate the building, sidewalks, etc.
6.Each vehicle will stop at the designated area by the CMS hallway doors. The 8th grade staff, with Mr. Wood and Mr. Rainville, will hand students their certificate and lanyard. Students will NOT be able to get out of their cars.
7.After one vehicle moves from the drop off area, that vehicle will exit the parking lot on to Webster, and the next vehicle will proceed to the designated area by the MS hallway doors, and so on.
8.At 12 noon, we will recognize the annual Angie Holling Award recipients, voted on by the Chelan Middle School Staff.
We know this is not the way we had all planned to celebrate our 8th graders, and we appreciate your understanding as we do our best to celebrate our 8th graders while meeting state guidelines and directives.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call Mr. Wood or Mr. Rainville.
Thanks for your support, and GO PIRATES!
