Chelan High School Golf

Posted

May 2
Chelan golfers traveled to Leavenworth today for a match on a beautiful day to be on the course.  Chelan’s boys team took honors with a 374 to 403 win over Cascade, with Chelan’s Carson Clinton (9th grade) the boy’s medalist with a 3-over-par 74.  John Ludwig (10th grade) of Chelan also had a great day, coming in third and his best of the year with an 87.
I would also like to acknowledge a great effort by our Manson golfer, Wyatt Winters (8th grade) who has been practicing with us and will soon join the postseason matches in the 2B and B division.  Wyatt shot a hot 80 for 2nd best of the boys overall.  I’m looking forward to seeing his successes continue in his postseason.
For the girls, Chelan was only able to field a single entry, Kira Sandoval (12th grade) who has really started to get her game together and came in with a second place finish for the girls with a 107.

Wenatchee JV at Chelan
Though the weather reports were threatening thunderstorms, the weather came through  (though a little “sticky” for around here) and we ended up with a great day once again for golf.
While the boys finished all 18 holes, the girls cut it short at nine.  Chelan’s top two girls, Kira Sandoval and Malie Benson, both had identical scores of 54 and both seem on the edge of real “breakthroughs” with their games, and hopefully at the CTL Championships on May 16 we’ll see that come to fruition.
For the boys, Chelan’s Carson Clinton had another great round of 1-over par 73 and medalist honors, with several missed birdie putts and, like the girls, is on the brink of having a real breakthrough match, though there is nothing shabby about his current efforts. Having a personal best day was Chelan’s Chase Woodley (11th grade) with a 92, and Rocco Domser (8th grade) came in with another great score of 95. The Chelan boys’ team bested the Wenatchee boys 361 to 407, and neither girls’ team had enough players for a team score.
Championship match at Omak on May 16, will also serve as the state qualifying match for the top finishers.
