April 12 - Girls
GAMBLE SANDS - Weather (winds) were much improved for the Girls Gamble Sands Invitational held on Wednesday April 12.
Team scoring was led by Liberty High School (Issaquah) taking 1st in the 3A/4A division and overall with a 361, with Eastmont coming in 2nd at 389.  In the 1A/2A division, Ephrata came in 1st with a 386 (and 2nd overall).  Chelan only had 3 team members and was unable to post a team score.  For the CTL teams, only Omak was able to post a team score, coming in 6th in the 1A/2A division with a 431.
Taking individual honors was 11th grader Kylie McGrath from Liberty High School in Issaquah with a 2-over par 74.  Jayme Dwight (10th grade) from Ephrata came in 2nd with a 75, and a tiebreaker gave 3rd to Liberty’s Audrey Park (10th grade) at 76 - scorecard tiebreaker with Hailey Blancas (11th grade) from Montesana High School.
For Chelan, 2nd year player Kira Sandoval (12th grade) came in with a 104 (tie for 34th) and Arabelle Finch (11th grade) scored a 108 (tie for 47th).
The Chelan girls team will head to an Invitational match at Burlington-Edison next Monday, April 17 and both Chelan teams will head into league play next week with matches at home on Tuesday, April 18 with Quincy and again at home on Thursday, April 20 with Cascade.  With just four home matches total this year, we need to take advantage of our home course as much as we can this next week.

April 11 - Boys
GAMBLE SANDS - On Tuesday, April 11 the Chelan Golf, Team Hosted golfers representing 28 teams at Gamble Sands.  With the final golfers finishing the course at the 6 1/2 hour mark, it was a long and windy day for all.
Results as follows:
Overall team winner:  Sehome (310) and also 1A/2A team winner
3A/4A team winner:  Gig Harbor (322)
Individual winner:  Baylor Larrabee (Ferndale - 3 under 69)
2nd Place (tiebreaker):  Carson Clinton (Chelan - even par 72)
3rd Place:  Wes Bothel (Sehome - even par 72)
For the teams from the CTL, Chelan was followed by Omak (422), Cascade (466), and Quincy (not enough players for a team score).
I was very happy and encouraged by the Chelan boys team who showed a great improvement overall from their last outing at the Jack Barnes Invite (Three Lakes GC) before spring break.  Carson Clinton (9th grade) had a great day and even with some close misses still came out even par - his best score as a Chelan golfer in his young career.   As this was only our 4th match and one practice on our own golf course, we have a lot of improvement still to make, but it’s nice to finally have an open golf course to practice on and to see some scores settling down - a good trend to be on.
A big thank you to my Assistant Coach Amber Finch for running this and the girls tournament (Wed., April 12) and all the hard work she puts in concerning it, and to the volunteer parents who helped with scoring (Clintons, Domser).
