Dana Wellman Starkweather

In Loving Memory of Dana Wellman Starkweather: Devoted Husband and Father,
November 28, 1940 – October 14, 2023.

Dana Wellman Starkweather was born on November 28, 1940, and passed away peacefully at his home, with his family at his side on October 14, 2023. He was born to Elenor Trask and Edwin Starkweather in Troy, New York, and grew up in California and Massachusetts. He married the love of his life, Thyra “Timi” Marie Kellogg in May of 1964.
Dana was a man of high integrity and morals, who was known for his ability to listen and be kind. He was a man of few words who lived his faith and taught by example. He was deeply devoted to his family and friends, who praised his wicked sense of humor and dry wit, as well as his understanding, patience, and fairness. He was an avid reader and loved to play games, as well as watch British sitcoms with his wife, Timi. He loved adventure, traveling, history, any and all projects, babies & and good scotch. Some remember him as the “Cookie Monster” for his love of sweets, and his family always looked forward to him making his incredible peach cobbler and fudge sauce. Dana’s work ethic and care were also evident in his passion as a ‘gentleman farmer’ in his home garden, which he tended to every day.

Dana retired as Captain from the United States Coast Guard after an amazing 35-year career.  He and Timi and their 5 children lived throughout the United States and Europe. They loved the life they had in the Coast Guard, which was their life’s adventure.

In 2003 Timi and Dana moved to Manson, Washington where they have lived ever since. Dana was Commissioner of Manson Fire District 5, a Marine Patrol volunteer with the Chelan County Sheriff's Department, Head of Missions at the North Shore Bible Church, and a member of the American Legion Post 108.  Dana’s devotion to his community was clear to everyone who had ever known him.

Dana is survived by his wife Timi, their 5 beloved children Kevin Starkweather, Roger Starkweather, Kelley Rush, Timothy Starkweather, and Nicole Starkweather; grandchildren Taylor, Asia, Katelyn, Levi, Oliver, Stella, Breanna, Tyler, and Shannon; 6 great-grandchildren, a couple of adopted kids, and lots of adopted grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many loving friends. He had two brothers Richard Starkweather and Thomas Starkweather.

Dana was deeply loved by his family and friends. His legacy will live on through their cherished memories.

A Celebration of Life will be held at North Shore Bible Church, 123 Wapato Point Parkway, Manson, WA 98831, at 2 p.m. on November 21, 2023.
