Lake Chelan Community Center begins search for new executive director

Posted

CHELAN — The Seven Acres Foundation has announced a leadership transition at the Lake Chelan Community Center following the resignation of Executive Director Maribel Cruz, who has led the organization through the community center's construction, opening and early operation.

The foundation's board of directors announced the change this week, thanking Cruz for her leadership during what it described as a pivotal period in the organization's history. Under her leadership, the project evolved from a vision under construction into a fully operating community center serving the Chelan Valley.

Board President Brooke Isaak has been appointed interim executive director and will oversee day-to-day operations while the foundation conducts a search for its next executive director.

"Maribel's vision, dedication, and steady leadership have helped shape The Community Center into the thriving community asset it is today," Isaak said in a statement. "On behalf of the Board, we are incredibly grateful for her years of service and the strong foundation she has helped build."

Cruz reflected on her time leading the organization, calling it "one of the greatest privileges of my professional career."

"Every season of this journey has been a gift, from helping bring the vision to life to watching this community embrace it as their own," Cruz said. "I leave with a heart full of gratitude for our Board, partners, donors, volunteers and everyone who believed in what this place could become. I have every confidence that The Community Center's best days are still ahead."

The board said it has refined the executive director position as the Lake Chelan Community Center has matured from a construction project into a fully operating facility encompassing more than 44,000 square feet of community, commercial and event space. The updated role is intended to build on the operational foundation established over the past several years while leading the center through its next phase of growth.

"The Community Center has entered an exciting new phase," Isaak said. "We remain focused on completing our remaining construction projects while continuing to expand programs, strengthen partnerships and maximize the impact of this extraordinary community resource."

The Seven Acres Foundation is now accepting applications for the executive director position. Information about the position and application process is available at chelancommunity.org/careers or by contacting hello@chelancommunity.org.
