Posted

CHELAN - The Union Valley Fire was called into RiverCom on Tuesday, August 30 at 2:10 p.m. The third alarm fire was fought by Chelan County Fire Districts 4, 5, 7, 6, 8, Cashmere Fire, Douglas County Fire Districts 1, 2, and 4, U.S. Forest Service, DNR and BLM crews and air support, which included two planes and two helicopters. No homes were lost in the fire, but many residents in the area were put on Level 3 and 2 evacuations, which were lifted by later in the evening. All evacuation levels were lifted on Thursday, Sept. 1.
The fire, which started out as multiple fires, is under investigation and DNR Investigators would like to talk to the driver of a dark colored SUV that was traveling up Union Valley Road at approximately 2 p.m. on August 30. If you know who the driver is or you are the driver, please contact DNR Investigator Bruce Long at Bruce.Long@dnr.wa.gov.
Residents and businesses in the valley offered space for animals and residents for those who needed to evacuate their homes and property.
