Cynthia “Cindi” Tangborn passed away December 17, 2022.  Cindi was born in Shelton, Washington April 23, 1951 to Wiley and Dorothydee Surratt. In her teens, after Cindi’s father’s unexpected death her family moved to Walla Walla.  Later, Cindi moved to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island where she and her previous husband Robert Ankersmit  loved sailing and had their daughter Sarah on a  Christmas Day.  Cindi was the first Commodore of the Friday Harbor Sailing Club.
Ultimately,  she met Dennis Tangborn and his son, Don and they moved to Marysville.  They became a family and were married December 1, 1984.  Cindi worked at King Machine in Mukilteo, retiring to the Lake Chelan Valley with Dennis in 2008.  Cindi enjoyed motorcycling with Dennis, eventually riding her own bike for many years. Cindi spent hours gardening in the Spring and Summer; Winter was cross country ski season.  Cindi did a stunning job raising a family. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart.  She loved all her family and friends.  Her friends are many, especially those she made while participating in the Gold Wing Touring Association, the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, the Lake Chelan Lutheran Church and the Chelan Fraternity of Eagles Auxiliary where she served three terms as President.
Cindi is survived by her husband Dennis, daughter Sarah (Paul) of Seattle, son Don of Arlington, three granddaughters Donita, Ariyah and Ariel, sisters Leslie Hoots of Lynnwood and Margaret Spatafore of Kirkland, brothers Bill (Jill) of Clarksville, Tennessee and David (Delia) of Walla Walla and many nieces, nephews and friends. Cindi was preceded in death by her father and mother.
A memorial for Cindi will be held on her birthday, April 23, 2023, 1 p.m. at the Lake Chelan Lutheran Church, 216 W. Nixon Ave., Chelan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice.
